Alarm Mediation
One of the most common applications of Q3ADE is alarm mediation
and pre-processing. C.f. our list of business
cases.
Solution
Q3ADE has been applied to alarm mediating solutions for all types
of telecom equipment, but also for sources that have no relation
to telecom, like water pumps, radars, customer information systems,
radio equipment etc. C.f. our Interoperability
list.
Q3ADE provides tools for mediation of alarm information from sources
based on a wide range of technologies, e.g. from plain ASCII picked
up from a printer port, from SNMP traps or in the high-end, from Alarm
Reports via CMIP.
Q3ADE includes standard tools for technologies like SNMP, CMIP/Q3,
TL1, CORBA, ASN.1/BER, HTTP/HTML/XML/SOAP, ODBC, FTP etc. C.f. the
component list.
Specifically for mediating alarms to TeMIP and HP Openview, Read

You may build up a complete Fault management system based on Q3ADE
alone, if you combine your alarm mediation with Q3ADE 3G's Fault
Management Services.
Scalability
If the alarm frequency is moderate (typically up to 100 events/second
durable), then you can do with a Q3ADE
3G runtime license + a plain retail PC with Windows NT/XP.
If your needs are higher (typically beyond 50-100 events/second
durable), then you can scale by a combination of developing your
own adaptation modules in C++, applying faster HW, multi-CPU hosts
and ultimately mulitple hosts in parallel or in chain. The scalability
of Q3ADE is documented by the TDC
case, where alarms are translated from the whole network infrastructure,
covering 1000+ switches and other network elements.

your own gateway solutions combining any of the Gateway
Components in Q3ADE.
